Modern Nasal Surgery
An aesthetic rhinoplasty not only changes the symmetry and proportion of the face, it also influences the perception of personality and emotion. This far-reaching impact of aesthetic nasal surgery, combined with complex surgery in a very small space, makes rhinoplasty one of the most demanding plastic surgery procedures. To meet this challenge, Dr. Jacob Brügel in Nuremberg has specialized exclusively in aesthetic rhinoplasty.

Aesthetic Rhinoplasty
Aesthetics and Function – In aesthetic rhinoplasty, the shape of the external nose is surgically reshaped individually to match facial proportions and according to the patient’s wishes. The most common reason for aesthetic rhinoplasty is a nasal hump. In addition to correcting the nasal bridge, the nasal tip and, if necessary, the nasal wings are adjusted. In the same procedure, if medically necessary, nasal breathing can be improved by straightening the nasal septum.
Revision Rhinoplasty
Not every nasal surgery leads to the desired result. Insufficient communication about the desired appearance, poor wound healing, or inadequate surgical execution can negatively affect the aesthetic outcome. Asymmetries, misalignments, or objective signs of a previous procedure are common reasons for revision rhinoplasty.
Nasal Tip Plasty
In a nasal tip correction, only the shape of the nasal tip is changed – the nasal bridge remains unchanged. The procedure is suitable when the tip is too wide, drooping, or over-rotated, while the rest of the nose requires no correction. Since the bony structures are not altered, the surgery is significantly more gentle: the nose does not need to be broken, swelling subsides more quickly, and the procedure usually takes less than one hour.

Is complete cost coverage by statutory health insurance possible with Dr. Brügel?
Costs are only partially covered: If there is a medical indication, the costs for correction of the internal nose (nasal septum and turbinates) are covered by statutory health insurance. The aesthetic and functional-aesthetic modification of the external nose is in any case a private-pay service.
A purely medical nasal correction at the expense of statutory health insurance is possible in ENT departments of hospitals, however § 12 para. 1 SGB V must be observed:
„The services of statutory health insurance must be appropriate, sufficient, and economical; they may not exceed what is necessary.“
All measures in medical nasal corrections serve exclusively to improve function. Aesthetic corrections, such as hump removal, exceed what is necessary.
Is financing possible?
Upon request, installment payments can be arranged through the external financing partner Kiwimedical. The terms and conditions are discussed discreetly during the consultation.
What is aesthetic rhinoplasty?
Aesthetic rhinoplasty (rhinoplasty) serves to change the shape of the external nose for non-medical reasons. The goal is to improve the appearance of the nose, such as in cases of hump nose, crooked nose, wide nasal tip, or asymmetric profile.
The costs for purely aesthetic nasal surgery are not covered by health insurance.
If there is also a functional impairment, for example due to a curved nasal septum or narrowed nasal valves, the aesthetic procedure can be combined with functional nasal surgery. In such cases, health insurance usually covers the costs for the functional portion of the surgery.
What is nasal tip correction?
Nasal tip correction is a targeted procedure on the external nose. Unlike complete rhinoplasty, only the cartilaginous portion is modified, without corrections to the nasal bridge. The goal is aesthetic refinement of the nasal tip, such as in cases of drooping, too wide, or asymmetric shape.
What is alar base reduction?
Alar base reduction is an aesthetic procedure in which the lateral base of the nose is specifically narrowed. The goal is to make the nose appear less wide in frontal view and to reduce large or asymmetric nostrils.
Especially in patients with an ethnically broader nasal base, alar reduction can lead to a more harmonious overall shape. The procedure is usually performed through small incisions in the area of natural folds and is often combined with rhinoplasty.
What is a Septumplasty?
A deviated nasal septum, medically referred to as septum deviation, is one of the most common causes of restricted nasal breathing. The consequences can be a permanently blocked nose, snoring, recurrent infections, or pressure in the face.
Septoplasty is a medically necessary procedure aimed at straightening and stabilizing the nasal septum. This improves airflow through the nose, which has a positive effect on breathing, sleep, and quality of life.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and is covered by statutory or private health insurance.
